Meet Our Team

Crown Construction Inc.

Founded in 1986 by two experienced craftsmen, Jeff Fredrickson and John Lafian, Crown Construction Inc. is a full-service remodeling and construction firm located in Dryden, New York.

Jeff and John’s business philosophy – based on integrity, quality work, commitment to their employees and a collaborative relationship with clients – has endured for over 30 years, making Crown Construction a leader in the remodeling industry in Central New York State. John retired in 2016, but that philosophy continues to this day under the ownership of Jeff Fredrickson.

“If you take care of your employees, they will continue to offer the high-quality services that make your company successful,” says Jeff Fredrickson. “I believe in empowering our people.” In return, Crown Construction enjoys a dedicated team of top-notch craftsmen who consistently deliver outstanding results to our clients.

Jeff Fredrickson
President and Co-Founder

Jeff is one of the co-founders of Crown Construction when it began in 1986. Prior to that time, Jeff had his own business, which was also very successful. His passion for helping people realize their dreams is a motivating factor in what he does today. Jeff leads the Crown team with diligence – sometimes relentlessly but often sprinkled with humility. He cares for the Crown employees and their families. Jeff works hard to keep the wheels running year round, which can be a challenge in the winter.

When Jeff has a moment to breathe from the pace of running a business, he can be found fishing on one of the beautiful Finger Lakes or hunting in the woods. He also enjoys riding motorcycle and his bicycle with his wife, Melody. And of course, who can forget the pets. Jeff and Melody have two Jack Russell Terriers, Harley and Gunner.

Adam Gosser
Design Consultant

Adam – like the prodigal son – returned to Crown Construction in 2015 after having been away for several years pursuing a career as a Pastor. Adam started with Crown in the early 1990’s as a laborer working his way toward roofing foreman. Then in the early 2000’s become a construction foreman and eventually moved into the office as an Estimator and Design Consultant. Throughout these years, Adam followed his heart and moved several times for pastoral positions – taking him away from the area each time. But his return to Crown was – and is – welcomed.

Adam’s in-the-field remodeling experience ensures his thoroughness and efficiency in design and estimating when meeting with homeowners and his pastoral experience helps him understand the emotional ups and downs of remodeling from the customer’s perspective.

Adam’s time outside the office is somewhat limited for recreational activities as he is serving as Sr. Pastor of Christian Assembly of God church in Cortland, NY. Adam truly enjoys life with his wife, Annmarie, and their three children. He loves to hunt, laugh, and boisterously cheer for the Colts.

Jim Wavle
Sr. Designer/Estimator

Jim came to Crown Construction in 1988 and has earned the distinction of becoming a National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) certified Associate Kitchen & Bath Designer (AKBD). He is one of the ‘senior’ team members at Crown although you wouldn’t know it. Jim’s wit and humor helps the office move through the day in ‘high fashion.’ Jim started at Crown as a foreman and moved into the office as an estimator. He soon found his niche in design. Jim is his happiest when designing an addition, kitchen, basement, bathroom, sunroom – you name it. The more complex the design, the more fun he has. He is methodical and thorough with each design –making changes as he meets with the homeowners to fine tune their desires.

As a worship team leader for his church, Jim can be heard practicing his guitar each day at lunch. He is involved in the Syracuse Rescue Mission. Jim enjoys riding his motorcycle as well as his bicycle in the warmer weather. He runs regularly, kayaks, enjoys hiking in the Adirondacks and is a huge Yankees fan. In the winter, you will often find Jim on the ski slope.

Charley Bayley – EPA RPP Certified Renovator
Foreman

Charley is as gentle as he is skilled. Although he can do just about anything, his specialty is kitchen and bathroom remodeling. Charley came to Crown Construction in 2000 and has been in the remodeling profession for 30 years. He has a self-taught talent, which combined with many years of experience, makes him a skilled craftsman. His “cool, calm, and collected” demeanor helps as he finagles his way through tight spaces or installs intricate custom tile patterns. Charley is a “green remodeler” choosing to recycle and reuse products if at all possible.

Charley keeps up-to-date with industry standards for quality and best practices and is an EPA RRP Certified Renovator for lead-safe work practices.

Charley is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and cross country skiing. He is a true nature enthusiast.

Pete Chapman – EPA RRP Certified Renovator, GAF Certified Installer
Foreman

Pete grew up not too far from Crown Construction’s office in Dryden. He has been with Crown Construction eight of those years and enjoys the challenges of building and home remodeling. When Pete began at Crown Construction, he was mentored by one of the best, Ed Ostrander (now retired). Ed taught him the tools and skills of the trade and helped develop Pete into a true craftsman. Pete’s calm demeanor and varied skillset enable him to handle the toughest, most complex jobs successfully.

Pete keeps up-to-date with industry standards for quality and best practices and is an EPA RRP Certified Renovator for lead-safe work practices. He is also a Certified™ Weather Stopper® Roofing contractor for GAF.

Outside of work, Pete enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and just being outdoors.

Joanne Sterling
Office Manager

Even though Joanne’s official title is Office Manager, she often uses the title of “Director of First Impressions.” Joanne’s voice will typically be the one you hear when you call Crown Construction. She came to Crown Construction in 2000 to work closer to home. Her background is the corporate world of IBM and Lockheed Martin in Owego, NY. Joanne works in the sales and marketing department – fielding calls, scheduling appointments for the sales staff, writing the monthly E-newsletter, and much more. Her positive energy and Pollyanna attitude are welcoming.

Joanne keeps herself busy outside of work with numerous church activities, community involvement, kayaking, and of course, her grandchildren – both two legged and four legged. She also tries to keep up with the office chatter involving the Yankees.

Linda Yetter
Bookkeeper Extraordinaire

Linda Yetter is a wonderful addition to Crown Construction. She joined our team during the 2020 pandemic and navigated us through the mounds of paperwork and guidelines for doing business. Linda watches the numbers like a hawk. She is calm and methodical in her processes of keeping the company’s records on track.

Linda loves spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter. She enjoys family history, sewing, antiquing and is planning an exciting overseas trip sometime in the future.

“We were very happy with our experience with Crown Construction. They replaced our roof and windows, and the job was done professionally, at reasonable cost, and with excellent craftsmanship and customer service. Would definitely hire them again!”

“We've had Crown do several projects at our home - including a complete kitchen, a complete bathroom, and siding. They are amazingly flexible with work schedule and working with us to keep costs down. Their staff are completely trustworthy and we've never had any qualms about giving them complete access to our home. We have an older farm house where nothing is straight or level - but to look at our kitchen and bath now, you'd never know it. We would highly recommend them.”

Charlie-Donna C.

“I have used Crown Construction for quite a few different projects at my house over the past decade. The fact that I return to them time after time is a testament to the quality of their work. They are professional in every way, from the initial consultation to the tiniest of final details. My most recent project was a bathroom remodel. In a home that’s almost two hundred years old, you never know what you’re going to find when you open up walls! This project didn’t fail to surprise us, but each new discovery was met with expertise and an appropriate solution. The end product is a beautiful and functional bathroom. The next time I need something done in my house, Crown will be my first phone call.”

Kathy B.

“We worked with Crown Construction on a fairly large project, including renovating our 1850's farmhouse kitchen and bathroom. Crown assisted in the Design, provided input and incorporated our feedback and worked with us to bring our vision to life! The work crew was professional, friendly and skilled, especially when working with an old home & all the issues that brings. We are very happy with the outcome!”

Lyn C.

“Our experience with Crown Construction was excellent. The workmen were always punctual, friendly and explained what they were doing and how they were doing it. The work was done thoroughly and to our satisfaction. They always cleaned up completely after they had finished the job for the day. My wife and I found it a pleasure to work with Crown Construction.”

Richard K.

“Crown Construction replaced my siding and parged my foundation. They were great to work with - quick response to any question, and professional and friendly. They kept me informed about timing and duration. The work itself was really well done. They siding looks fantastic and having the foundation parged was a relief. It feels like a new house. I appreciated the clear communication and the excellent work all around.”

Melanie C.

“Crown Construction just finished doing our roof, with a full tear-off of the two layers of old shingles. They did a top-notch job with the flashing, underlayment, everything. We found some rotted wood underneath, and they fixed it up for a very small addition to the original price quote. They were professional, honest, quick, communicative, and responsible. The price was totally reasonable. Overall, a great experience.”

Jeff W.

“We were very happy with our experience with Crown Construction. They replaced our roof and windows, and the job was done professionally, at reasonable cost, and with excellent craftsmanship and customer service. Would definitely hire them again!”

Rob C.

“We have had excellent service from Crown, with each crew being knowledgeable, and extremely capable in their specialty area. They have also been very respectful, and careful, cleaning up carefully at the end of the day, and removing or securing any unused materials that might create a hazard. We will certainly call on them preferentially the next time we need work done.”
