Ah, How Sweet It Is

That's what Helen and Walter Allmandinger of Freeville are saying about their gorgeous new addition. After talking with John Lafian about their project, Helen and Walter, along with their daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bob Graves, put the Crown team right to work.

As you can see from the pictures, the transformation was quite spectacular. By removing an interior kitchen wall, the spaciousness was immediately felt. The newly remodeled kitchen now opens into the beautiful great room that was added on. Having the sink in the peninsula allows the chef to be part of the festivities. Attractive maple kitchen cabinets with raised panel doors were topped with an easy-maintenance solid surface countertop.

The open floor plan allows ease of movement from the kitchen to the great room. The hardwood floors help create a unity between the rooms. Three double hung windows and an elliptical transom window were grouped together to create a stunning focal point. The cathedral ceiling also adds to the excitement.

In one corner of the room is a free-standing gas fireplace complete with a remote control. In the other corner, the door opens to an elevator that easily takes Helen and Walter to any of the three floors in their home at the push of a button (basement, 1st floor, 2nd floor).

The exterior was given a facelift as well. The entire house was treated to beautiful maintenance-free vinyl clapboard siding along with new fascia, soffit, and seamless, heavyduty gutters. A large overhang was built on one side to accommodate a porch in the future.

Helen and Walter absolutely love their beautiful new surroundings. They are a retired couple who have gracefully redesigned their home to accommodate their lives. Walter enjoys custom woodworking. In fact, the coffee table in front of them is a creation of his.

They were thrilled with the specialty crews... right from the excavators, to the framers, to the finish carpenters. The exterior of the addition was given special TLC from Denver Metzler (roofing foreman) and Tim June (siding foreman) along with their crews. Each step was well orchestrated by Brian Hollenbeck, Field Supervisor.
